First Impressions Ministry

Kindness is the medium through which Christ’s love becomes tangible through us. It is practicing benevolence and a loving attitude towards others. First impressions occur automatically and they last. You only get one chance to make a great first impression!

An honest smile and a heartfelt handshake may be a cup of cold water given in Christ’s name to a thirsty soul. When kindness and friendliness are sincere, greeting becomes ministry. People bond to each other. We want bonding to begin at the front door, by showing kindness and friendliness to:

  • new people who feel strange and don’t know their way around
  • the elderly who increasingly feel alone
  • children who are outside their comfort zone
  • mothers with babies and small children
  • those that show up regularly at the same door
  • the minister and staff that sometimes need an advocate at the door
  • those that have physical challenges
  • people that don’t seem to need it

All of us have a need for kindness – 2 Peter 1:7. The goal of the First Impressions Ministry is to help show kindness from the parking lot to the chair and to help remove as many barriers as possible for people so they can connect with God. We need friendly people that can "show Jesus" in this way. If you are interested in serving in this ministry, please contact Harold and Rita Dunavant at rsdunavant@comcast.net.
